Concourse A (New York Hilton, Concourse Level)
Chair:

Session Abstract

Historians in a wide range of fields have begun exploring and experimenting with emergent technologies for virtual and augmented reality. From virtual reconstructions of ancient sites to World War I battlefields to more abstract conceptual visualizations, historians are using VR and AR in research and teaching. This salon session will feature projects that demonstrate the varied uses of virtual environments. Beginning with short presentations, the session will also allow attendees hands-on opportunities to try some out for themselves. It will be possible to drop in at any point during the 90 minutes during the demos.
