Learning to Think Historically: Using Avatars to Bridge the Gaps

Peter Thorsheim will discuss how he uses avatars to help students understand how ordinary people constructed and refashioned their identities as international boundaries and relations changed during the twentieth century. Such an exercise, he suggests, not only helps students to apply broad concepts to particular cases, but also to improve their ability to think historically.
