Bayside C (Sheraton New Orleans, 4th Floor)
Chair:
Hannah Ewing, Rollins College

Session Abstract

The small liberal arts college history classroom is a fruitful place to do hands-on history exploration to engage students and get them excited about historical questions and thinking processes. This participatory workshop will invite audience members to try out interactive classroom activities in a small-group setting led by a small liberal arts college faculty member. Discussion will include how to adapt these sorts of activities to other settings, including larger classrooms and online classes. This session is sponsored by the AHA’s Working Group on Small Liberal Arts Colleges and aims to foster conversation between folks at different sorts of institutions about how we can involve students. All participants, including students, are welcome to attend.
