Creating an Archive can be a daunting task, archives are serious business and a lot of responsibility - it’s history afterall. In this presentation, Lyons will address the origins of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Archive and how after 20 years of diligent organizing the work paid off. In the right place and the right time, the Archive acquired a substantial A/V collection and managed to catalog and describe thousands of old WWOZ recordings. This work also resulted in two additional projects that brought the collection into public consciousness. Over her 25 year tenure she used many successes - and a few failures - to strategically grow the Archive.
