Jazz Festing in Place: Translating a Cultural Ecosystem Rooted in Place to a Digital Platform

When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, WWOZ and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation faced an unprecedented challenge: how to preserve not just a music festival, but a deeply layered cultural experience. In this presentation, Booher will discuss how she rapidly expanded what was to be a rich listening experience to include all the other elements of the festival online-only, including food, parades, folklife, crafts, and community.
