Session Abstract
University, advocacy organizations, and high school teachers who have designed and taught Latino history courses will help high school teachers design their own Latino history syllabus. In school districts across the country, where the number of Latino students is growing rapidly (it’s nearing fifty percent in Chicago), teachers are eager to introduce Latino history content in their history/social studies curriculum. But they complain that they don’t have time, don’t know where to begin, and want something pre-packaged and easy to use. So, the purpose of this workshop will be to brainstorm with them about how to develop their courses.
