Session Abstract

Participants in this roundtable conversation will discuss perspectives on how historians as public intellectuals have responded to cases of genocide and ethnic cleansing during the last century, and how this response has been entangled with American domestic politics, cold war, and the US foreign policy agenda. Participants will discuss how their work deals with the weaponization of history in international and domestic politics, and how they envision the relationship between the historical profession and public advocacy.
