Session Abstract

How can museums and historians work together to support teachers’ inclusive history goals? This workshop will dive into classroom materials designed by the Tenement Museum to support inclusive and expansive teaching of immigration and migration. Participants will explore primary sources from 150 years of tenement families; view 360 models of those families’ tenement apartments; and engage with contemporary migration stories contributed to the Museum’s online exhibit, Your Story, Our Story. Learn how the museum partners with historians to meet teachers’ needs, and brainstorm ideas for new teacher resources!
