Session Abstract

Our discussions will attempt to look at how we (historians and graduate deans, etc.,) are grappling with DEI in admissions policies in our Ph.D. programs, both what DEI looks like at our institution, and what it will honestly take to achieve it. We anticipate this will require digging into the nuts and bolts of graduate admissions, as well as the larger goals and ideas. The frame of this panel is conversational, with the end goal of discussing best practices, addressing implicit biases, and truly beginning the conversation about diversifying the field. We welcome discussion with the audience after the panelist conversation.
