Ryan McGrady, Wiki Education Foundation
Ryan McGrady will discuss the background, development, rationale, structure, and outcomes of the Wiki Scholars course the panelists participated in. In his role as Program Manager, he has led the development of the course's curriculum and format during its pilot phase and has run several versions of the course covering multiple subjects. In addition to providing background context for the other panelists' talks, he will speak to high-level programmatic considerations, such as the decision to work with institutions like the National Archives and different course models, and to the broader implications for the relationship between historians and Wikipedia. Finally, he will demonstrate the tools and trainings the participants used throughout the process, many of which are freely available, and provide attendees with some of the fundamental knowledge necessary to get started contributing to Wikipedia.
