Lindsey Passenger Wieck will discuss her experiences and skills she gained in the Wiki Scholars course. Before the course, she was intimidated by editing Wikipedia, despite her scholarly training. However, by gaining familiarity with the platform, its rules and expectations, and best practices for editing Wikipedia, she found greater comfort with contributing. She will discuss how the collaborative nature of the course helped her appreciate different facets of Wikipedia and seek a better understanding of establishing an ethical commitment to contributing to the site as a scholar. Wieck also will discuss how this course and its tenets have influenced her teaching in undergraduate and graduate public history courses.
