Loyalism in the Age of Atlantic Revolutions, Part 2: New Research

AHA Session 72
Friday, January 4, 2019: 10:30 AM-12:00 PM
International South (Hilton Chicago, Second Floor)
Chair:
Carol Berkin, Baruch College, City University of New York

Session Abstract

This panel explores emerging loyalist scholarship from the perspectives of race and gender. By focusing on debates over masculinity, on women’s political engagement through literary texts, and on black loyalists’ struggles for political autonomy, these papers open new windows on loyalists and loyalism during and after the American Revolution.
