In commemoration of the centennial of the United States' entry into World War I, students in an upper-division course on World War I research veterans of the War who are intered in Florida National Cemetery. This presentation discusses how a topical course can be structured as a student-centered research project. Students saw how their research changed their understanding of global connections experienced around major events in history.
