This presentation is designed to help teachers use online tools more effectively. It will review various teaching experiments—including best practices and pitfalls—with Crash Course World History (CCWH), the BBC’s podcast series A History of the World in 100 Objects (HOW100), and collaborative google docs. We will discuss projects that help students critically analyze the content of youtube videos like CCWH, how to use HOW100 to prepare students to give mini-lectures in class, and the benefits of using google docs for collaborative discussion and exam preparation. The presentation’s purpose is to provide simple and practical ways to integrate online tools into a more student centered classroom.
