It's safe to say that everyone in the audience enjoyed their undergraduate history courses. However, we need to recognize that our students are not as engaged as we once were — particularly in the dreaded survey course. I will be discussing practical ways to use online resources to engage students, as well as ways to incorporate these resources in the classroom—elements such as appealing to their outside interests, the physical use of classroom space, and ways to facilitate discussion.
