Saïda Oumul Khairy Niasse, the daughter of Ibrahim Niass (a leading figure in the Tijaniyya order), founded the Jamiyat Nassirat Dine, a Sufi Muslim women's movement that has 200,000 members in Niger and branches in 6 West African countries. This organization’s promotion of education, financial autonomy, civic engagement, and a strong sense of identity as an African Muslim woman, bridges the gap between the global feminist movement and Islamic feminists. As such Jamiyat Nassirat Dine offers a direct challenge to Boko Haram.
