The Construction of a New Research Program at Medici Archive Project: France and the Medici
Saturday, January 3, 2015: 11:30 AM
Lenox Ballroom (Sheraton New York)
Representing the latest MAP research initiative—to be launched at the Sixteenth Century Studies Conference this year in New Orleans-- this program will concentrate on the transnational aspects of the archives, and specifically the social, diplomatic, political and religious interactions between France and Italy, conveyed through letters, finance records, political documents, and other sources. The talk will center on the case of one Italian family, the Gondis, and the records in the Medici archive of their rise to power in France.
