John Sayles, writer and director (Orion Pictures, 1988)
A dramatization of the Black Sox scandal, in which eight members of the Chicago White Sox conspired with gamblers to throw the 1919 World Series, the film explores the relationship between management and labor, sport and profit in turn-of-the-century Chicago.
John Sayles, independent filmmaker and Elliott Gorn, Loyola University Chicago will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterward.
