The walking tour will take participants through the French Quarter, pointing out important culinary institutions and offering sneak peeks into the kitchens of the oldest restaurants in New Orleans. Liz Williams, a culinary historian, will talk about how the world-renowned cuisine of the city developed, the historical significance of the Port of New Orleans, and what is happening now in the city. This tour should be of interest to all cultural historians interested in the development and evolution of New Orleans, as well as foodies interested in learning more about the city.
