This paper will first situate Gwendolyn Hall's database in the context of development of other large historical databases and of her own research on slavery. Then it will describe several features of the Louisiana Slave and Free Databases, such as identification of sources and facilitating access through the ibiblio website, which remain important in development of digital resources
