This presentation will concentrate on how to negotiate applying to a two-year institution of higher learning. While there are similarities to applying to research-one universities and two-year institutions, there are differences as well. This presentation will focus on the need to mentally move away from the notions of elitism that permeate many applicants’ view of two-year institutions and their faculty. Included in the presentation are discussions of assumptions that might affect applicants’ letters, interviews, and informal conversations with search committees.
