Community colleges may offer particular professional opportunities that young historians, entering the current job market, might wish to consider. This presentation wil seek to assist historians as they prepare for interviews at two-year institutions, by reviewing some of these opportunities. It will also endeavor to ready prospective applicants for interviews at associates degree-granting institutions by providing an overview of “the big picture:” the history, mission, and distinctiveness of community colleges as exciting and dynamic institutions of post-secondary and higher education in the contemporary United States.
