Trevor Kilgore will highlight the ways in which Catholic communities and movements in Italy and elsewhere in Western Europe attempted to connect, through revised religious rituals, with a wider society in the pre-Conciliar era. In addition, he will initiate discussion regarding the lay practice of modifying traditional religious objects and areas, such as altars and churches, and converting everyday sites, including public squares, into sacred spaces.
