Meetings with the dean, students, and faculty outside the department provide important opportunities for the job candidate to learn more about the institution, potential colleagues, and students. While it’s crucial to remember that all of these meetings are part of the candidate’s interview process, this is also a chance for the candidate to get an idea of what a career in that environment might be like. This talk will address the ways that these meetings can provide valuable insight into campus life and the professional environment, as well as get a sense of the larger institutional culture, become familiar with the student body, and learn what kinds of facilities and resources might be available for new faculty.
