Session Abstract

Since 2020, the American Historical Association has significantly expanded its advocacy on behalf of historians, history education, and the institutions that support historical research and scholarship. Sarah Weicksel, AHA executive director; Brendan Gillis, director of teaching and learning; and Alexandra Levy, director of communications and public affairs, will discuss this work and the AHA’s efforts to respond to and work with members on issues affecting the discipline.

Together, the panelists will examine how the AHA navigates an increasingly complex advocacy landscape requiring sustained engagement and responsiveness to members and rapidly developing issues.
