This module considers Atlantic piracy in global perspective, beginning. C1500 and concluding c. 1750. Through its emphasis on the integration of piracy into colonial communities throughout North America and beyond, it encourages students to think more broadly about the range of people, places, and processes that shaped the emerging Atlantic World. My discussion of this module will present several ways in which the module’s sources and reading materials could be adapted into a US history classroom.
