Session Abstract

How do disciplinary state standards support inquiry-based learning into local history? The state of Illinois is clear that disciplinary concepts provide foundational knowledge and skills, and local history provides a rich, immediate, and relevant context for inquiry and action. But what does this look like in a lesson, in the classroom, and in partnership with local communities? What disciplinary tools and concepts do we leverage for inquiry learning?
