Session Abstract
The Chicago SNCC History Project was created more than 20 years ago to preserve the history of the civil rights movement and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) for a new generation of social justice activists. The archive is housed in the Vivian C. Harsh Collection of African America History at Carter G. Woodson Regional Library. Participants will explore an exhibition of the collection curated by Raquel Flore-Clemmons, regional director, and interns from the Chicago SNCC History Project and hear a book talk by Macarthur Cotton, author of Mississippi’s Black Cotton and former Freedom Rider and SNCC field secretary. The evening will conclude with a reception and a performance by SNCC Freedom Singers.
Please note: The group will travel to the library by bus.
Limit 24 people. $50 members, $60 nonmembers.
