Conventional historical research methods perpetuate the effects of colonialism, especially on indigenous narratives, by favoring text based sources and insulated methodology. This project aimed to develop a historical research methodology that amplifies indigenous voices and worldviews. This work was done in consultation with indigenous cultural heritage professionals and scholars. This method emphasizes community outreach, tribal archives, and the principle of reciprocity as the basis for research. The search for knowledge is more fruitful when it is a community endeavor. This indigenous-centered methodology aims to create more ethical historical scholarship. This information will be presented in a text format with supplementary photographs.
