Participants will be identified in the months prior to the annual meeting, with some space reserved for audience members to pitch their own show ideas.
Session Abstract
Historians are increasingly turning to podcasting as a tool for public engagement and student learning. Historians regularly appear on podcast series, consult on audio projects, and are often behind the mic as hosts and producers. Yet, historians who wish to develop their own series have few opportunities to present and vet ideas for new projects in a community setting or talk with experienced history podcasters about process and production.
“History Podcast Pitch Party: New Ideas for New Podcast Series” will offer current and aspiring historian podcasters the opportunity to present concepts for new history shows in a lightning round format. The session’s goal is to help foster community among fellow scholars, public historians, podcast producers, and other members of the profession who are working in the audio space. Speakers will have 5 minutes to pitch a show concept, with the opportunity to receive feedback on their ideas from established podcasters and build collaborative relationships with members of the community.
In keeping with the lightning round format of this session, participants will be identified in the three months prior to the annual meeting, with some space reserved for audience members to pitch their own show ideas.
