In our current era of accountability, truth, and reconciliation of complex realities, and in many cases harm and hardship, experienced by Indigenous People as a result of unfair and oppressive practices, our return and repatriation of culturally significant items, artifacts and ancestors is more urgent than ever.
This poster will present a uniquely non-linear visual perspective of benchmarks in the process of acquisition, identification, deaccession and return of ancestral offerings, art, and artifacts from museum collections.
Case studies of completed, in-process and potential repatriation projects will serve as a catalyst for sharing information and growing our collective understanding of the practical application and impacts of cultural heritage policy.
