Session Abstract

What is an institutional research (IR) office and what can it do for you? Historians might be surprised to learn that IR offices can help further goals of equity and inclusion in introductory history courses, but that was exactly the goal of faculty participating in History Gateways, a Mellon-funded AHA initiative that partnered with the Gardner Institute. In this session, faculty will share what worked and what didn’t in working with IR offices to learn about who was and wasn’t succeeding in their courses. Joining the discussion will be two data experts with humanistic backgrounds providing context on institutional data in higher ed. Following a roundtable discussion, attendees will be invited to a Q&A with panelists.
