Session Abstract

This roundtable session brings historical perspectives to bear upon contemporary debates about defunding police in the United States. Featuring scholars of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, borderlands, and urban history, the session centers questions about police power, public safety, race and racism, violence, and inequality in the making of modern America.
