Session Abstract

Children’s literature has long included historical fiction as a major genre—from Johnny Tremain to the American Girl series—but historians have not always been involved in children’s publishing. In this roundtable session, those who have researched, written, and published books for children will discuss their approach to writing children’s books, the joys and challenges of publishing them, and how these books can help shape young people’s understanding of the past.
