Session Abstract

This roundtable will bring together a diverse range of participants engaged in the work of public-facing history today. Drawing on scholars and practitioners from the university and museum worlds, it will examine questions including the role of public institutions in shaping history and memory, the place of community-based collecting and archiving, and the potential of history to play a more active part in problem-solving and policy-making. At the heart of the discussion will be the professional and ethical responsibilities of historians in public-facing work.
