Session Abstract

Climate change is still relatively seldom taught at the high school and college level, and when it appears it is mostly in the form of the physical and life sciences. Yet, we know that any successful efforts to address climate change will require cultural, policy, and community-focused work in which many students and youth are already involved. How can we use history, civics, career preparation, and policy education to help engage students to face this situation as leaders, scientists, activists, and voters? What does it mean to offer accessible, useful climate education to equip students for their present and future? In this panel, we will hear perspectives from educators addressing this challenge at the college and high school levels.
