Constellations were developed by human cultures. Some of these images which we do not understand today are rooted in historical cultures, religions, and lifestyles. While religions and lifestyles of people changed, they sometimes changed their constellation, sometimes adapted them, sometimes took over images from other cultures and mixed them with their own tradition. This way, the images that are projected into the sky were transferred and transformed over centuries and cultures. The talk will present some animated visualizations of these transformations and comparisons between Greek and Babylonian cultures in order to trace the history of inter-cultural exchanges.
