Session Abstract
This session is intended to reflect on the 400th anniversary of settlement at Plymouth, not as a celebration, but as a reflection emphasizing the international context and how the events should be understood today. The "Pilgrim" narrative can best be understood through a series of contexts that includes Leiden, the Netherlands; Plymouth, England; the world of what would become Massachusetts in 1620; and the larger colonization frame of New England.
