Session Abstract

In response to the record number of women running for the presidency in 2020, the Committee on Gender Equity has organized a panel entitled “The Gender of Power.” Four scholars will examine the experiences of Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and Margaret Thatcher in their roles as governmental leaders, focusing on how they conformed to, negotiated, and resisted gender expectations in their respective times and places.
