Session Abstract

Historians working beyond the tenure track professoriate often remain interested in pursuing research agendas and publishing scholarly books. Yet they must do so without many of the traditional incentives and resources that support the process of seeing a book to print. This roundtable explores the process of writing, revising, and publishing a scholarly book outside that conventional framework. How can we nurture new and diverse generations of scholars? This panel brings together an acquisitions editor, dissertation mentor, a museum professional and grant officer, and authors working off the tenure track to discuss how to support a PhD as he or she develops an academic book for contract and publication.
