My paper "Fashion and Slavery: A New Course in Fashion History" will use my research and pedagogy as a point of departure to discuss innovative ways to approach the teaching of fashion history that focuses on marginalized designers and makers. My research on the intersection of the fashion system and the institution of slavery. This research informs my radical brand of pedagogy, which includes hands-on solution-based assignments and a number of public-facing workshops, talks, and other events. It is my hope that my research agenda and pedagogical efforts will help decolonize the field of fashion studies.
