The Haitian immigrants that entered Cuba during the first decades of the twentieth century influenced the political scene, and added to the discussions about national identity and the racial question. In the present work, we will examine the discourses on the issues as published in Cuban newspapers and magazine, which reveals the Cuban perceptions about of the presence of Haitian immigrants in the labor movement and their participation in the Partido Independiente de Color in 1912.
