This film highlights playwright Lorraine Hansberry’s previously unexamined life as a passionate artist, committed activist, and sought-after public intellectual. Known for her groundbreaking play A Raisin in the Sun, Hansberry tackled issues of race, human rights, women’s equality, and sexuality that anticipated future social and political movements. Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart illustrates Hansberry’s dedication to her belief that “one cannot live with sighted eyes and feeling heart and not know or react to the miseries which afflict this world.”

To Be Determined, Affiliation to Be Added, will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterward.
