Few women in the Jim Crow South spoke up about rape, out of fear for their lives. The Rape of Recy Taylor links the 24-year-old black womanâs stand against her rapists in 1944 Alabama to a legacy of resistance and womenâs efforts to take back their bodies. The film focuses on how Taylor, with the help of the NAACPâs chief rape investigator, Rosa Parks, triggered an unprecedented outcry for justice.
