"Unhappy People, Already Deluded by His Base and Insidious Arts": Slavery and Loyalty in the Atlantic World

AHA Session 263

Continental A (Hilton Chicago, Lobby Level)
Liam Riordan, University of Maine

Session Abstract

Did the loyalty that enslaved people imagined for themselves and their families coincide with the cultural expectation of their enslavers?
