During WWII, African Americans took a stand to fight not only for the war, but for equal rights with everyone else. The Double ā€œVā€ Campaign and the proposed March on Washington brought attention to the cause and led President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S.Truman to issue orders forbidding discrimination.
