Workshop: Preparing for the Nonacademic Job Search

Friday, January 5, 2018: 2:30 PM-5:30 PM
Marriott Ballroom, Salon 2 (Marriott Wardman Park, Lobby Level)
Speaker:
Anne K. Krook, Practical Workplace Advice

Join us for a three-hour workshop designed to help graduate students and postdocs learn more about searching for a job outside academia. The presentation will detail how nonacademic employers look at people with PhD training, what students can do to prepare to enter the job market, and the mechanics of the nonacademic job search. By the end of the workshop, attendees should be able to conduct a nonacademic job search, should they ever want or need to. The session is suitable for students and postdocs at any stage of their work.
