Session Abstract

What does thinking historically mean when you work at a think tank? What does research--historical or otherwise--look like in the policy arena, and how does it differ from academia? How does earning a PhD in history prepare—or not prepare—historians to make a different in the policy world? And what opportunities and challenges does working at a think tank present? In this roundtable session, historians working at three different think tanks will share their experiences in transitioning to careers in think tanks and address how the discipline of history can have an impact in policy.
