Experimenting with Sentiment Analysis and User Interfaces on the Digital Austin Papers

Andrew W. Torget, general editor and director of the Digital Stephen F. Austin Papers (DAP), will discuss the project’s ongoing efforts to experiment with new digital methods for finding meaningful patterns scattered across numerous documents in digital scholarly editions. Focusing, in particular, on efforts to apply sentiment analysis and digital mapping to the DAP corpus, Torget will discuss both the promises and perils of these methods and the project’s efforts to design user interfaces that make these complex tools easily accessible.
