Dr. Israel’s remarks will explore the challenges faced by the Thomas A. Edison Papers, at Rutgers University, in editing the large corpus of 20th century documents. While a selective book edition worked well for the 19th century, this format may prove unwieldy for the 20th century documents. By transforming our book edition into a digital text edition we also plan to better integrate it with our digital image edition. He will also discuss the long-term preservation and access strategy being developed for metadata and data for these editions.
